The experience of a summer programme in a boarding school

A boarding school experience can be an incredibly rewarding one, where you study and live on campus. In summer, many language schools host international students at these schools from June to August. Your studies and social life are centred around the school, which allows you to make lifelong friendships with other students and school staff. Students are all encouraged to discover and develop their true potential.

At St Edmund’s College, the summer programmes offer the extensive curriculum of a boarding school. As well as hosting you for 100% of the time, the programme will blend academic subjects with fully-supervised sports, arts, music and social activities, as well as tours and school trips outside the campus.

Most of the activities happen on campus. The school has a pool, sports room, athletic track and fields where you can play sports like touch-rugby and football. At St Edmunds there is a chance to camp overnight at their campsite on campus!

The rooms are often shared with many students from different countries so that you can make friendships and practice your English skills even more. Accommodation is separate for boys and girls, and each one has its own toilets and bathrooms. A different staff member “lives” in each hallway, to help students 24/7.

Students are provided with all meals in the school canteen: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food is cooked by experienced chefs and the school makes sure to provide healthy and delicious menus. When there are trips, students take a packed-lunch prepared by the chefs and have the chance to choose what to take on the trip.

Additional Courses
Schools often offer additional courses. At St Edmund’s College, you can take English examinations by LanguageCert, an awarding organisation dedicated to language skills assessment and certification. There are also free courses such as cooking, golf, and many more.

St Edmund’s College is regarded as one of the best boarding schools in the UK, and is located only an hour away from London. The Summer programmes happen in July and August and offer an unforgettable experience of education and fun.
